The Prosecutor General's Office investigates the circumstances of Kravchenko's departure abroad

The Office of the Prosecutor General has launched an internal investigation into the foreign business trip of former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, after which he did not return to Ukraine.

The investigation was ordered on September 22 by Acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalskyi. The PGO must establish whether the procedure for arranging and carrying out the business trip was followed, and also check circumstances that could have led to violations.

According to Haio vska, after the inspection is completed, the Office of the Prosecutor General will make further decisions if there are appropriate grounds.

Kravchenko left Ukraine on the night of September 14. He himself reported that he went on a business trip to meet with international partners.

According to the trip order published by "Ukrainska Pravda", the then Prosecutor General was to spend five days in Paris and take part in events related to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the issue of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. At the same time, the outlet noted that in the program of the relevant discussion, Kravchenko was not listed among the announced participants.

The trip took place amid a political and law enforcement crisis around the leadership of the prosecutor's office. On September 7, Kravchenko submitted his resignation, and on September 14 he stated that he had signed a notice of suspicion to NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. The Prosecutor General's Office later reported that within the relevant criminal proceedings no person had been notified of suspicion in accordance with the procedure established by law. /p>

On September 15, the Verkhovna Rada supported Kravchenko's dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General, after which President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the corresponding decree. On September 17, Anton Kovalskyi was appointed acting Prosecutor General.

Kravchenko did not return to Ukraine after the declared trip period ended. On September 23, "Ukrainska Pravda" reported that it had found information about the registration of Kravchenko and his wife in the Austrian Central Residence Register. The outlet claims that the former Prosecutor General is in Vienna.

Thus, the current internal investigation must establish first of all the legality and correctness of the arrangement of the trip itself and the circumstances under which Kravchenko left Ukraine as the then-acting Prosecutor General.
