Russian strike damaged data center of one of Ukraine's largest operators, there are casualties

As a result of the Russian attack on September 25, the data center of telecom company Datagroup was damaged. The company's employees were not harmed, and customer data was preserved. According to city authorities, five people are known dead as a result of the attack.

Damage to the data center was confirmed in a comment to dev.ua by Datagroup CEO Mykhailo Shelemba.

According to him, the company had reserved infrastructure in advance, so services continue to operate from backup sites. Currently, specialists are assessing the extent of the damage and working on restoring the infrastructure.

"The main thing is that our employees were not harmed," Shelemba noted.

The company also assured that customer data is preserved. No mass disruptions of Datagroup services due to the data center damage were reported.

On the same day, Russian drones repeatedly attacked Kyiv. The capital's mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a UAV hit on an office building in the Solomianskyi district, where the facade and windows were damaged, and a fire broke out in the parking lot. As of 15:38, five people had been killed and 27 injured as a result of the attacks on the capital.

At the same time, Datagroup has not publicly disclosed the address of the damaged data center, so there is currently no confirmed data that it was specifically the office building in the Solomianskyi district.

This is not the first damage to telecommunications infrastructure in Kyiv in recent days. Internet provider Etherlink previously reported problems after damage to its main node, and several local operators were restoring connectivity for some subscribers. Also, as a result of the Russian attack, a data center hosting the capacities of hosting provider MiroHost was destroyed.
