The plant of the largest ice cream producer in Ukraine has been hit again
On the night of September 28, Russian troops attacked a food industry enterprise in the Zhytomyr community with drones. A fire broke out at the facility, which rescuers have already extinguished.
This was reported by the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Bunechko.
According to him, there were no dead or injured as a result of the strike. After the hit, a fire broke out at the enterprise, which the State Emergency Service units first localized and then completely extinguished.
The regional authorities initially did not name the enterprise that was hit. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a message about the consequences of the night Russian attack, confirmed that an ice cream factory in Zhytomyr region had been damaged.
"In Zhytomyr region, they damaged an ordinary ice cream factory", Zelenskyy said.
The local Telegram channel "Trukha Zhytomyr" reported that the plant of the largest Ukrainian ice cream producer "Rud" was damaged again. Thus, according to local sources, this is already the second Russian attack on the enterprise in September.
On September 5, a Russian drone already hit the facility of the "Rud" company in Zhytomyr. As NV Business previously reported with reference to a company representative, the cooling warehouse with administrative and amenity premises was completely destroyed.
The area of destruction after the first strike was about 4350 square meters. Inside, finished products, loading equipment, and other property were stored.
"Rud" is the largest ice cream producer in Ukraine and one of the leaders in the frozen food market. According to the company, its products are represented in more than 75 thousand retail outlets and exported to over 36 countries.
The night attack on September 28 was part of a large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine. Russia used 165 drones of various types, including jet drones. Air defense forces shot down or suppressed 112 aerial targets, hits were recorded at 14 locations.
