Trump denied readiness to ease sanctions against Iran

US President Donald Trump stated that he did not offer Iran sanctions relief or access to frozen funds in exchange for Tehran's concessions on the nuclear program.

Trump wrote this on Truth Social, commenting on Axios reports about possible terms of a deal between Washington and Tehran.

The US president called the publication's information false and stated that he offered nothing to Iran. He also urged Axios to retract the publication.

Earlier, Axios reported, citing American officials, that Trump was purportedly ready to ease economic sanctions and allow Iran to access part of the frozen funds in exchange for concrete steps on the nuclear program.

According to the publication's interlocutors, economic concessions could become part of a potential agreement, but a deal would be impossible without progress on nuclear issues. Thus, a direct contradiction emerged between Trump's public assertion and the information Axios received from American officials.

Axios noted that the US and Iran continue indirect contacts through intermediaries, and Washington's key condition remains Tehran's concessions on the nuclear program.

The negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of attempts by mediators to find terms for resolving the conflict between the US and Iran. A few days earlier, Trump also stated that he had rejected the latest Iranian proposal, while allowing for continued negotiations.
