Ukraine allows truck drivers to operate tractors and combines without a separate license

The Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the rules for operating agricultural machinery during martial law. Drivers with licenses of categories C1, C, D1 or D will be able to operate certain types of tractors, combines and other self-propelled machinery without a tractor driver's license.

The corresponding changes were made by the government to Resolution No. 217 of April 2, 1994, the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

The new rules will be in effect for the duration of martial law and for 90 days after its termination or cancellation.

Drivers with the corresponding vehicle categories will be able to operate agricultural machinery of categories A1, A2, B1, B2 and B3 and drive it on local roads of district importance.

This includes, in particular, tractors with a power of up to 73.5 kW and above this figure, self-propelled grain harvesters, corn harvesters and forage harvesters, as well as machinery for harvesting root crops, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and berries.

Previously, operating such machinery required a separate tractor driver's license. After the rule change, agricultural enterprises will be able to involve truck and passenger transport drivers with government-defined license categories in moving equipment between fields.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky called the decision deregulation for the agricultural sector. According to him, farmers during meetings with the authorities pointed out difficulties associated with obtaining licenses to work with agricultural machinery.

The government expects that the changes will allow agricultural producers to move equipment between plots faster and reduce administrative barriers during field work. Separately, the Cabinet of Ministers drew attention to farms in front-line regions, where due to the security situation equipment sometimes has to be quickly moved between fields.
