Ukrainian forces have used the domestic FP-7 ballistic missile, produced by Fire Point, in combat for the first time.

This was announced on October 1 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who published a video of the missile's first combat use.

“Ukrainian tactical ballistic missile FP-7. First combat use. Thanks for the result,” the president wrote.

Zelensky did not reveal other details of the operation. In particular, there is no official information about what target the missile struck or where its first combat launch took place.

The FP-7 was developed by the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point. According to current manufacturer data, the missile is designed to hit ground targets at a range of up to 250 km and can carry a warhead weighing up to 200 kg.

The company publicly presented the FP-7 in 2025, and in February 2026 showed its test launch. In September, Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh said that the missile had successfully passed two stages of testing and moved to military tests. At that time, the company expected that weeks remained before its first combat use.

Earlier, Fire Point positioned the FP-7 as a cheaper alternative to American ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles. At the same time, the published characteristics of the FP-7 changed at different stages of development, so the parameters that the manufacturer currently indicates should be considered current.

The first confirmed combat use became a new stage in the FP-7 program. Previously, open sources reported on tests of the missile and preparations for its use, but there was no official confirmation of a combat launch.
