PKP Intercity launches more services on popular rail routes in Poland
Polish railway carrier PKP Intercity will significantly expand its timetable from December 2026. The company plans to operate about 600 trains daily, compared to approximately 530 in the current timetable.
The carrier's plans were announced by PKP Intercity president Janusz Malinowski. The new timetable will include both the opening of additional connections and increased frequency on routes the company already serves.
PKP Intercity aims to gradually move to regular departure intervals on the most in-demand routes. On certain routes, trains should depart every hour. In particular, between Łomża and Warsaw, the company plans to add six pairs of trains per day.
The timetable expansion comes amid rapid growth in passenger numbers. The company forecasts that in 2026, PKP Intercity will carry between 96 and 98 million passengers, more than 40% higher than in 2023.
Over the same period, the number of connections operated by the carrier grew by more than 30%. The company attributes the passenger growth, among other things, to the emergence of new routes and higher train frequency.
At the same time, from December, passengers may face temporary difficulties in Warsaw. Modernisation of Warszawa Wschodnia station is due to begin, and PKP Intercity warns that the works may affect train punctuality.
The carrier plans to present the full list of changes in the new timetable during October.
