Near the Moldovan border crossing a munition fell: bus damaged
At the Palanca–Mayaky–Udibne border crossing point on the Moldova–Ukraine border, following Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, an incident involving a falling munition occurred. The crossing point’s operations were temporarily suspended.
The Border Police of Moldova reported this.
According to the agency, at around 09:38 on 5 October, a shell fell near the Palanca crossing point. After hitting the ground, it ricocheted into a scheduled bus parked near the barrier gate.
As a result of the incident, the bus and the border control booth were damaged. One Border Police officer received minor injuries. According to preliminary data, no other casualties were reported.
Subsequently, operations at the Palanca crossing point on the Moldovan side and Mayaky–Udibne on the Ukrainian side were temporarily suspended.
The Border Police, in coordination with the customs service, is monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the competent Ukrainian authorities.
Residents of nearby areas were urged to avoid traveling to the area of the crossing point. In case of sounds of drones or explosions near the border, the authorities recommend moving to a safe place and following only official updates.
Citizens are also asked not to approach debris from aircraft, munitions or other unknown objects and to report them immediately to emergency services.
Earlier on the morning of 5 October, Russia attacked the Odesa region. Industrial and port infrastructure facilities were damaged, and fires broke out.
