Ukrainian DefenceTech company secures new financing for unmanned systems development
Ukrainian DefenceTech company Buntar Aerospace secured $16 million in a new investment round. Including previous funding, the total investment raised by the company has reached $30 million.
The round was led by Freedom Fund and an international direct investment fund. Gardar, Iron Wolf, and Autonomy Capital also joined the deal.
Buntar Aerospace plans to use the funds to accelerate the development of new products, increase production capacity for the needs of the Defense Forces, hire experienced engineers and managers, and enter foreign markets with dual-purpose solutions.
The company's key products currently include the "Buntar-3" reconnaissance unmanned complex and Buntar Copilot software for planning and executing drone missions. According to the company, both solutions are already used by Ukrainian frontline units.
Buntar Aerospace also plans to develop its product line beyond reconnaissance and surveillance. Areas the company intends to focus on include countering enemy drones, supporting precision strikes, and other solutions in defense autonomy.
According to Buntar Aerospace co-founder Bohdan Sas, the company primarily works on tasks where operator training and skill play a significant role. At the same time, developers see opportunities to adapt technologies created for the frontline to civilian applications.
This is already Buntar Aerospace's second major investment round in 2026. In March, the company raised about $10 million from American Axon Enterprise, Norwegian investment consortium Munkene AS, and private investors. The funding was also directed at developing unmanned systems and software.
Buntar Aerospace has been operating since 2023. Back in 2024, the company raised significantly smaller rounds: Uklon co-founders invested $200,000 in the startup, and the total capital raised at that time was about $2.2 million. Defense fund D3 Venture Capital was also among the early investors.
Thus, in two years, Buntar Aerospace has transitioned from initial venture investments to rounds of tens of millions of dollars, while simultaneously increasing serial production and preparing to enter foreign markets.
