Border crossing with Moldova resumes work after projectile fall
The border crossing point "Palanca – Mayaky – Udobne" on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border has resumed operation after a temporary suspension due to a projectile falling on Moldovan territory.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. According to the agency, border crossing operations have been restored, and the processing of citizens and vehicles is again being carried out in accordance with standard procedure.
The operation of the border crossing point was suspended on the morning of October 5 following an incident near the Moldovan checkpoint "Palanca". The Border Police of Moldova reported that around 09:38 a projectile fell in the area of the crossing point. After hitting the ground, it ricocheted and struck a scheduled bus that was near the barrier.
As a result, the bus and the control booth were damaged. One employee of the Border Police of Moldova sustained minor injuries. No other casualties were reported.
The Moldovan side linked the incident to Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. After the incident, traffic through the crossing point was halted for security reasons, and motorists were advised to temporarily use other routes, in particular the "Starokozache – Tudora" point.
After the necessary measures were completed, the restrictions were lifted. Currently, according to Ukrainian border guards, "Palanca – Mayaky – Udobne" is again operating without restrictions.
