Jaguar unveiled the Type 01 – the first production model after the brand's relaunch
Jaguar unveiled the electric Type 01 in New York – the first production car created as part of the British brand's large-scale relaunch. The four-door grand tourer will be the most expensive, most powerful, and most technologically advanced production Jaguar in the company's history.
The Type 01 is built on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture platform, developed specifically for the next generation of the brand's electric vehicles. Three electric motors develop up to 1,030 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.2 seconds.
The car is equipped with a battery with a usable capacity of 118 kWh and an 850-volt electrical architecture. Jaguar expects a range of up to 400 miles, or about 644 km, according to the American EPA cycle, and up to 720 km according to WLTP. Fast charging with a power of 350 kW will add about 320 km of range in 13 minutes.

The starting price of the Type 01 in the UK will be £130 thousand. Order intake will open in early 2027, when series production is also expected to begin at the JLR plant in Solihull. Electric motors and battery packs will be produced in Wolverhampton, and body panels in Halewood.
The Type 01 is the production continuation of the design direction that Jaguar showed in late 2024 with the Type 00 concept. Then the company underwent a controversial rebranding and announced its intention to move into a more expensive market segment, abandoning attempts to compete with mass premium brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
The new car differs significantly from previous Jaguar models. Its length exceeds 5.2 meters, width – 2 meters. The model features a long hood, low roofline, 23-inch wheels, and a body without traditional rear glass – a camera performs its function.
In the cabin, a 24-inch OLED display is installed in front of the driver and a separate 7-inch touchscreen for key functions. The center console runs through the entire cabin and divides it into four individual zones. During the creation of the Type 01, Jaguar filed more than 360 patent applications.
The launch of the model is of key importance for Jaguar's future. JLR has identified North America as one of the priority growth markets, while Jaguar is transitioning to a fully electric lineup. According to The Guardian, the company expects the Type 01 to attract a younger and wealthier audience, primarily in the US.
The Jaguar relaunch is part of JLR's broader investment program. Of the planned £15-18 billion over five years, the company has already allocated about £11.5 billion to development, engineering, and production preparation of the new generation of vehicles.
