Okwine estimates losses from Russian attacks at over 700 million UAH
Wine market chain Okwine and importer-distributor Wine Hunters estimated losses from Russian attacks at over 700 million UAH. Since July, the companies have suffered four strikes: three times warehouse infrastructure was damaged or destroyed, and another strike hit a data center.
This is stated in an official announcement by Okwine. The company noted that during these attacks, employees were not injured. Despite significant losses, Okwine and Wine Hunters do not plan to reduce staff.
A series of strikes began in early July. On the night of July 2, as a result of a direct hit by a Russian missile, the central warehouse of Okwine and Wine Hunters was destroyed. At that time, the company could not assess the final amount of losses and started rebuilding logistics.
Already on September 1, the companies lost a new central warehouse that they had been using since the previous attack. Okwine reported that this was the second large-scale destruction of its warehouse infrastructure in about two months. Deliveries to stores, HoReCa establishments, and other partners had to be reorganized again.
After two warehouses were destroyed, Okwine and Wine Hunters preliminarily estimated their losses at over 600 million UAH. This amount included not only the destroyed inventory, but also the costs associated with rebuilding logistics. After subsequent attacks, the estimate increased by at least 100 million UAH.
In addition to strikes on warehouses and the data center, Russian shelling also affected the company's retail network. In particular, on August 1, during an attack on Kyiv, the Okwine wine market on Mykhailo Drahomanov Street was damaged. The team temporarily suspended its operation to address the aftermath.
Despite the loss of key infrastructure, the company states that it continues to supply products to its own network and partners, and does not plan to reduce employees. The main task after the attacks remains the restoration of supply chains and the maintenance of operational work.
Thus, for Okwine and Wine Hunters, the consequences of Russian strikes have already gone far beyond a one-time loss of goods: the companies have had to virtually rebuild their warehouse and IT infrastructure several times. The current estimate of over 700 million UAH remains preliminary.
