Share of electric vehicles on the new car market in Ukraine fell 3.6 times
The share of fully electric cars on the Ukrainian new passenger car market in September 2026 dropped to 9.2%. A year earlier, electric vehicles accounted for about a third of the market – 33%.
This is reported by the association "Ukrautoprom". Thus, over the year the share of electric cars among sold new passenger cars decreased approximately 3.6 times, or by 23.8 percentage points.
At the same time, traditional cars noticeably strengthened their positions. Gasoline and diesel models together accounted for almost 59.5% of new passenger car sales in September, compared to 46.5% a year earlier. The share of gasoline cars rose from 31.2% to 39.3%, diesel – from 15.3% to 20.2%.
Simultaneously, the hybrid segment continued to expand. They accounted for 31% of the new passenger car market compared to 20.3% in September 2025. Cars with LPG equipment, as a year before, occupied less than 1% of the market.
The most popular new electric car of the month was the BYD Sea Lion 06. Among gasoline models, the Hyundai Tucson led, among hybrids – Toyota RAV-4, and among diesel cars – Renault Duster.
In total, in September Ukrainians purchased about 4.9 thousand new passenger cars. This is 29% less than in September last year, and approximately 1% less than in August 2026.
The current dynamics of electric cars significantly differ from the situation in the second half of 2025, when demand surged sharply ahead of the end of the preferential taxation regime for electric vehicle imports. By the end of 2025, their share among new passenger cars reached 28.3%, but in the first half of 2026 it dropped to 8.3%.
However, the statistics refer specifically to the structure of new passenger car sales. The total number of electric vehicle registrations in Ukraine also includes a significant segment of used cars imported from abroad.
