In Ukraine, on October 8, electricity supply restrictions were tightened due to the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. In Kyiv and parts of Kyiv Oblast, emergency outages were reintroduced, even though they had been lifted in the morning. Emergency restrictions were also applied in Kharkiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, and Sumy Oblast. Meanwhile, scheduled hourly outages were increased in several regions.

According to updated information from "Ukrenergo", the reason for the reintroduction of emergency outages in some districts of the capital and Kyiv Oblast was a drop in voltage in the high-voltage network.

During emergency outages, previously announced hourly schedules do not apply. Power engineers will be able to return to predictable schedules after the situation in the power system stabilizes.

Earlier in the morning, DTEK reported emergency outages in Kyiv, as well as in Brovary, Bucha, Vyshhorod, and Boryspil districts of Kyiv Oblast. Later, these restrictions were lifted, and consumers were returned to planned schedules. However, the need to reapply emergency measures arose later.

Emergency outages were also introduced in Kharkiv and Kharkiv Oblast. As reported by "Kharkivoblenergo", the corresponding command was given by "Ukrenergo" due to the difficult situation in the united power system after Russian shelling.

Emergency outages were also introduced in Chernihiv and Sumy Oblasts. According to "Chernihivoblenergo", at the direction of "Ukrenergo", 10 stages of emergency outage schedules were initially applied in the oblast. Later, the volume of restrictions was reduced to five stages. Emergency schedules will remain in effect until a separate order from dispatchers.

In Sumy Oblast, emergency outage schedules were introduced at 09:38 for consumers in stages 1-10. "Sumyoblenergo" explained that the reason was damage to the power system as a result of systematic Russian attacks. The oblast energy company emphasized that emergency outage stages do not coincide with stages of hourly schedules, and it is impossible to determine the exact time of power restoration during emergency restrictions.

In addition, planned restrictions continue in other regions. According to updated data from "Ukrenergo", throughout October 8, schedules of hourly outages up to three stages simultaneously are applied in some oblasts. Previously, restrictions of only 0.5 to 1.5 stages were forecast for this day.

For industry and business, power limitation schedules are foreseen throughout the day. These measures are necessary to avoid overloading equipment damaged by Russian attacks.

As of the morning of October 8, due to new strikes on energy infrastructure, additional power outages were recorded in four oblasts: Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.

Emergency restoration works are ongoing in all regions where the security situation allows. Power engineers are trying to restore electricity supply to consumers as soon as possible.

According to "Ukrenergo", electricity consumption in Ukraine has decreased. As of 09:30 on October 8, it was 5.5% lower than at the same time the previous day. The main reason is the increase in forced outages in several oblasts.

On Wednesday, October 7, the daily consumption peak was recorded in the evening. It was 1.6% lower than the maximum of Tuesday, October 6.

To reduce the load on the power system, "Ukrenergo" recommends shifting active electricity use to the period from 11:00 to 15:00, when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently.

At the same time, from 17:00 to 22:00, consumers are asked not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.

Power engineers warn that due to further Russian attacks, the situation may change during the day. Current information about emergency and hourly outages should be checked on the official resources of local distribution system operators.
