Emergency power outages introduced in a number of regions of Ukraine due to shelling
On the morning of October 9, emergency power outages were introduced in certain regions of Ukraine due to the difficult situation in the energy system following recent Russian shelling. In particular, emergency restrictions are in effect on the right bank of Kyiv and in part of Kyiv Oblast.
This was reported by the National Energy Company "Ukrenergo".
In regions where emergency outages have been introduced, previously published outage schedules are temporarily not in effect. This means that electricity may be cut regardless of specific hours and queues.
Ukrenergo explained that emergency restrictions became necessary due to the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Energy workers are working to stabilize electricity supply, after which such outages will be canceled.
The company has not yet published a complete list of regions where emergency restrictions have been applied. At the same time, DTEK confirmed the introduction of emergency outages on the right bank of Kyiv, as well as in Bucha and Vyshhorod districts of Kyiv Oblast.
The company noted that the decision was made at the command of Ukrenergo. The timing of a return to normal schedules has not yet been determined.
The day before, the energy system operator warned that on October 9, hourly power outages of 0.5 to 2 queues would be in effect in some regions throughout the day. Capacity limitation schedules were also provided for industry and business.
However, due to new Russian shelling, the situation changed, and emergency measures had to be taken in certain regions. In areas where such restrictions are not present, previously planned schedules may continue to apply.
Ukrenergo emphasized that the situation in the energy system remains volatile. Consumers are advised to check current information on the official resources of their regional energy companies, as outage schedules can change quickly.
Energy workers urge citizens who have electricity to use it sparingly so as not to create additional load on the damaged infrastructure.
