Kyiv changes electric train service between the banks: what passengers need to know from October 12
It will become easier for Kyiv residents to get from one bank of the Dnipro to the other during peak hours. From October 12 to 16, Kyiv City Express will launch 18 additional city electric train trips, and intervals between trains on this route will be reduced to 10–15 minutes.
Additional trains will run on the route Kyiv-Demiivskyi — Vydubychi — Berezniaky — Darnytsia and back.
What will change from October 12
The new scheme differs from the additional trips that were launched in Kyiv from October 5 to 9. Then shuttles ran on a shorter route Vydubychi — Berezniaky — Darnytsia and back.
Now the route will be extended to the station Kyiv-Demiivskyi on the right bank.
Thus, passengers will be able to use additional trains at four stations:
- Kyiv-Demiivskyi;
- Vydubychi;
- Berezniaky;
- Darnytsia.
Trips will be operated in both directions.
During peak hours electric trains will run every 10–15 minutes
18 additional trips will be distributed primarily to morning and evening hours, when demand for travel between the banks is highest.
Thanks to this, the interval between electric trains on the route should be reduced to approximately 10–15 minutes.
For passengers, this provides another option for crossing the Dnipro without a car or ground transport, especially during periods when movement between the right and left banks is complicated.
Why additional trips were extended
Additional shuttles between the banks began to be launched amid persistent transport difficulties in Kyiv.
After the trips on October 5–9, it was decided to keep them for a few more days and simultaneously expand the route.
As a result, from October 12 to 16, passengers will be able to start or end their journey already at Kyiv-Demiivskyi, not just at Vydubychi.
Where to check the schedule
It is better to check the exact departure time before the trip, since additional trips are distributed over morning and evening peak hours.
The current schedule is available on the official website Kyiv City Express, where you can select the departure station, destination, and the required date.
The main difference of the new scheme from the previous one is not just a few more days of additional trains. The route becomes longer, and during the busiest hours the interval between electric trains between the banks will be reduced to 10–15 minutes.
