Shelling and bad weather caused new power outages in six regions of Ukraine
On the morning of October 12, new power outages were recorded in six regions of Ukraine due to Russian shelling and adverse weather conditions. As a result of the bad weather, 63 settlements were fully or partially left without electricity, and in three other regions interruptions occurred due to damage to energy infrastructure.
This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo in its morning update on the state of the power system.
Due to Russian shelling, new power outages occurred in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. As a result of hostilities, energy equipment was damaged. Emergency restoration work is already underway wherever the security situation allows. The number of consumers who have been left without electricity has not yet been specified by energy workers.
In Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions, 63 settlements were left without power due to heavy rains and wind gusts. Some of them were completely without electricity, others partially. Repair crews from the regional power companies are working to restore the damaged overhead power lines.
At the same time, hourly electricity outage schedules of up to 1.5 stages continue to operate in some regions, and for industry, capacity restrictions. These measures were introduced from 06:00 until the end of the day due to the consequences of previous Russian attacks, in order to avoid overloading the damaged equipment.
According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption on October 12 as of 09:30 increased by 1.7% compared to the same time on the previous working day, October 9. Among the reasons are a smaller volume of restrictions, as well as cloudy and rainy weather, which reduced the efficiency of household solar power plants.
Energy workers urge Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly and to limit the use of powerful electrical appliances in the evening hours - from 17:00 to 22:00. Due to the threat of new Russian attacks, the situation in the power system may change, so current outage schedules should be checked on the official resources of local regional power companies.
