On the night of October 12, Russian troops attacked the gas production infrastructure of Naftogaz Group in Kharkiv region. As a result of a strike by a jet drone, a fire broke out at the facility, and critically important equipment was damaged.

This was reported by the acting chairman of the board of NAC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" Serhiy Fedorenko.

According to him, during the attack, employees were in the shelter. No one was injured as a result of the shelling.

"The attack damaged critical equipment. Our employees are doing everything possible to eliminate the consequences of the hit as soon as possible and prevent risks to the stable operation of the energy system", Fedorenko noted.

Currently, Naftogaz Group specialists are eliminating the emergency and working on restoring damaged infrastructure. The company did not specify the scale of destruction, nor did it report whether the strike affected current natural gas production volumes.

The attack took place against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's statement on October 11 about an alleged energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, Moscow has not publicly confirmed its agreement to stop strikes on energy infrastructure.

Earlier that day, Russian troops struck a suburb of Kharkiv. According to preliminary information from local sources, the area of Kharkiv TPP-5 came under attack. There was no official confirmation of a direct hit on the combined heat and power plant at the time of the first report.
