While on the interbank currency market a struggle is ongoing for the level of 45 hryvnias, on the cash exchange market truly dramatic events are unfolding.

Cash exchange operators from different cities reported to the "Currency of Ukraine" portal about a shortage in circulation of new-style dollar bills (the so-called "blue dollar", banknotes of the 2009 series), which is causing its price to rise compared to old-style dollars (the so-called "white dollar" - banknotes issued from 1996 to 2006).

In particular, in Kyiv wholesale exchange offices today sell the usual ("white") dollar at 45.05 hryvnias – 10 kopecks more expensive than yesterday. As for new bills, they are valued 25-30 kopecks more expensive in the capital city.

Selling prices for cash dollars have also gone up in regional centers of Ukraine. For instance, in Mykolaiv an ordinary dollar is sold today at 45.10 hryvnias, in Dnipro - at 45.15 hryvnias, and in Poltava - at 45.30 hryvnias. The "blue" one, respectively, is at least 10-20 kopecks more expensive.

Ukrainian banks by 11:00 sell the dollar at prices from 45.10 hryvnias at the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank to 45.55 hryvnias at the Zaporizhzhia Metabank. As for the euro, at the moment it is cheapest to purchase at 50.59 hryvnias in Credit Agricole Bank. Despite the fall on FOREX, the cash euro in Ukraine is becoming more expensive, though not as fast as the dollar.
