Ukraine launches energy independence map of residential buildings
On October 13, the interactive "Energy Independence Map" officially launched in Ukraine, allowing users to check the readiness of residential buildings for winter and possible power outages. The service shows whether a building has backup power and which utilities will remain available during blackouts.
The launch was announced by the Ministry of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine. The project was implemented jointly with the public organization "LUN City" with expert participation of the National Platform of Condominium Owners and the organization "Ecodiya".
You can check building readiness on the "Energy Independence Map" website. The service is designed for apartment owners, tenants, and people planning to buy housing.

The interactive map provides information about the availability of alternative power sources in residential buildings - generators, inverters, battery systems, and solar panels.
In addition, the service helps determine which building systems can operate without centralized power supply. Specifically, these include:
- heating and hot water supply;
- cold water supply;
- elevator operation;
- internet access;
- lighting of common areas.
Data on building energy independence is collected with the participation of condominium associations, property managers, and developers. Building representatives can report installed equipment and update information via a special LUN questionnaire.
The map is also integrated with the state portal "yeOpora". When viewing information about a specific building, users can access a list of available energy efficiency support programs. Among them are the state program "SvitloDIM", grants, and loans for energy modernization of housing.
According to Deputy Minister for Digitalization Ihor Reva, combining the map with state programs allows residents not only to assess already completed winter preparation but also to find opportunities for improvement.
The ministry emphasizes that security requirements were considered during the platform's creation. Only general information about the availability of backup power is publicly displayed, without sensitive technical details. Authorized representatives of condominium associations and housing maintenance organizations can contact the developers to update information.
Currently, the project is in development stage. The developers plan to gradually expand functionality, involve property managers in information verification, and extend the map to other major cities of Ukraine. Therefore, the absence of a particular building on the map does not necessarily mean it lacks backup power.
Let us remind you that on September 3, the Ministry of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine and "LUN City" signed a memorandum on creating an interactive map. At that time, its launch was announced before the start of the heating season.
