State company "Ukrnafta" in 2026 allocates about UAH 2.9 billion for the protection of production infrastructure and improving the security of its facilities. Due to the intensification of Russian attacks, some equipment is being moved underground, protective structures are being built, and reserves are being created to ensure the continuous operation of enterprises.

This was reported by the chairman of the board of JSC "Ukrnafta" Bohdan Kukura on his Facebook page.

According to him, during 2026 Russian troops significantly intensified attacks on the company's facilities. Both production capacities and the network of gas stations are under attack.

To counter these threats, "Ukrnafta" allocates about UAH 2.9 billion for the protection and safety of infrastructure. The funds are directed to the construction of protective structures, moving some capacities underground, creating equipment reserves, and increasing energy autonomy.

The company is also developing alternative power supply schemes to reduce the dependence of production processes on damaged energy infrastructure.

"We respond to this systematically. About UAH 2.9 billion this year we allocate for protection and security: we are moving some capacities underground, building protective structures, forming an equipment reserve, strengthening autonomy and alternative energy supply schemes", said Kukura.

"Ukrnafta" continues drilling new wells

Despite the intensification of attacks, the company does not stop investments in oil and gas production.

In 2026, "Ukrnafta" plans to drill and put into operation 15 new wells. Cooperation with other enterprises of the "Naftogaz" group remains a separate direction.

In particular, together with "Ukrgasvydobuvannya", the company has already implemented three new wells this year.

At the same time, the company is modernizing equipment used at existing fields. One of the directions has become the wider application of electric centrifugal pump installations (ESP), designed to lift fluid from wells.

In eight months of 2026, 63 such installations were installed in wells. In total, the active fleet of equipment of this type reached 226 units.

The use of modern pumping systems has significantly increased the period of well operation between repairs.

According to Kukura, the average overhaul period for wells with modern ESP increased from 214 days in 2024 to 410 days in 2026. For new pumping systems, this indicator reaches 786 days.

Increasing the overhaul period allows reducing the frequency of equipment shutdowns for maintenance and improving the stability of production processes.

Hundreds of wells transferred to remote monitoring

Another direction of modernization was the introduction of remote control over the operation of production facilities.

As of September 2026, "Ukrnafta" connected 420 wells to remote monitoring and control systems.

According to the company's head, the technology allows tracking production parameters in real time, responding more quickly to deviations, and changing equipment operating modes without the need for constant personnel presence at facilities.

Remote control also helps maintain management of production in conditions of increased security risks.

"Our task is to maintain manageability, modernize production, and continue the company's development", emphasized Bohdan Kukura.

Thus, the company simultaneously strengthens physical protection of infrastructure and modernizes production equipment, trying to ensure stability of operations under constant Russian attacks.
