Autostrada company is completing construction works in the Dniester riverbed on the Moldovan side and moving to the next stage of building a temporary bridge between Ukraine and Moldova. Traffic on the new crossing, which is meant to provide direct transport connection between Vinnytsia region and the Moldovan city of Soroca, is planned to be opened by the end of 2026.

This was reported on October 15 by the press service of Autostrada.

The temporary bridge is being built in the direction of the future international checkpoint "Yampil - Cosauti". To complete works on time, construction is being conducted around the clock.

The total length of the crossing will be 276 meters. Currently, 180 meters of the bridge have been built and 15 out of 24 metal supports have been installed.

Each support consists of eight tubular elements and three ice breakers designed to protect the structure from ice loads.

The roadway of the bridge will be located approximately 11 meters above the level of the Dniester. The span structure is formed from metal beams and reinforced concrete slabs. The surface of the slabs has a special notch for better adhesion of car wheels to the road surface.

In parallel, builders are completing the arrangement of about three kilometers of new approach road from the Ukrainian side. The next stage will be the construction of an exit on the Moldovan bank and the connection of the crossing to the existing road network of the neighboring country.

The new route should improve transport connection between Ukraine and Moldova. After the opening of the bridge, Vinnytsia region will get a direct road connection with the city of Soroca, which will expand opportunities for passenger and freight transportation.

The company notes that traffic intensity across the Ukrainian-Moldovan border continues to grow. In particular, in June-August 2026, about 2.25 million border crossings were recorded - 12.9% more than in the same period last year.

The new bridge is expected to create an additional logistics route that will help relieve existing border crossing points. This is especially important in the conditions of a full-scale war, when Ukraine needs alternative transport routes for international trade and supply of goods.

The temporary crossing should also provide conditions for the resumption of construction of a permanent international bridge across the Dniester. Its design length is 1309 meters.

Autostrada started implementation of this project in 2021, but after the full-scale Russian invasion construction was suspended.

Now the temporary bridge will allow to establish transport connection until the completion of the main project. At the same time, the company has not named specific terms for resuming construction of the permanent bridge crossing.
