On the morning of 16 October, emergency power outages were again introduced in Kyiv due to Russian attacks on energy facilities. Previously published hourly outage schedules are temporarily not in effect.

This was reported by the energy company DTEK on its official Telegram channel.

"Kyiv: emergency outages applied due to an attack on energy facilities. Remember, during emergency outages the schedules do not apply", the company noted.

The day before, DTEK published outage schedules for 16 October, but due to new damage to the power system their application has been suspended. The timing of a return to planned restrictions has not yet been given.

In recent days, emergency power outages have been regularly introduced in Kyiv. In particular, on 14 October, as a result of a massive Russian attack, consumers in several districts of the capital were left without electricity. Energy workers managed to partially stabilize the situation, but new strikes again led to emergency restrictions.

The situation is complicated by significant damage to the capital's energy infrastructure. According to official reports, during the latest attacks Russia struck all three main Kyiv thermal power plants.

According to "Ekonomichna Pravda" of 15 October, citing sources in the energy sector, the capital was actually left without its own large-scale electricity generation. As a result, the city has become much more dependent on electricity supply from other regions of Ukraine.

At the same time, Russian strikes are also damaging high-voltage networks through which electricity reaches the capital. This makes it difficult to transmit electricity even when there is sufficient generating capacity in other regions.

DTEK urges residents to follow the company's operational updates. Once the situation stabilizes, energy workers will announce a return to hourly schedules.

Update: Ukrenergo has clarified that, due to the difficult situation in the power grid, emergency outages are being implemented in certain areas of Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Previously published hourly outage schedules are temporarily suspended for locations subject to emergency restrictions. A return to the projected schedules is planned once the situation stabilizes.
