On the night of October 16, Russian troops massively attacked the Volyn region with Shahed-type jet drones. As a result of the strikes, critical infrastructure and enterprises were damaged, leaving hundreds of thousands of consumers without electricity. There are casualties, and the fate of five more people remains unknown.

This was reported by the acting head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Roman Romaniuk.

According to him, during the night Russian troops continuously attacked the region. In total, about 20 jet attack drones were directed at Volyn.

As of 08:00 on October 16, 370,000 subscribers were left without electricity. As a result of the attack, civilian and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged. Emergency crews are working to restore power grids.

In the village of Manevychi, the Russian strike damaged a private enterprise. According to preliminary data from the Regional Military Administration, two people were injured. The whereabouts of five more individuals remained unknown at the time of the morning report.

In Lutsk, an enterprise with foreign investments was also affected. According to regional authorities, there were no injuries at this facility. The names of the enterprises and the extent of material damage have not been disclosed yet.

Due to the damage to energy infrastructure, Lutsk was left without power supply. City council secretary Andrii Razumovskyi reported that utility services are operating using backup power sources.

In addition, the city experienced problems with public transport. According to the local publication misto.media, citing city authorities, on the morning of October 16, trolleybus service in Lutsk was temporarily suspended due to damage to the power grid. Specialists are working to eliminate the malfunction.

Power supply interruptions were also recorded in Kovel and the settlements of the community. Local authorities reported that key critical infrastructure facilities have been switched to backup power. Emergency crews are gradually restoring electricity supply, and utility services are working to stabilize water supply.

The current massive attack was preceded by strikes on the evening of October 15. At that time, three jet "Shaheds" were recorded in the region's airspace, which were destroyed by air defense forces. At the same time, the debris of one of the downed drones damaged power lines in the Lutsk community, causing power and water outages.

After the night strikes, the electricity supply situation in the region has significantly worsened. The timing of complete restoration of power has not yet been announced.

The head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration urged residents of the region not to ignore air raid alerts, to stay in shelters during a threat, and to avoid places of mass gatherings.
