On the front, military personnel Valeria Stepanova, who had previously reported harassment during service, has died
Valeria Stepanova, a servicewoman of the 432nd separate unmanned systems regiment, an FPV drone operator with callsign "Demon," died on the front line while performing a combat task. She had previously publicly reported sexual harassment, threats, and physical violence during her service in another military unit.
The death of the defender was reported on October 13 by the military women's project "She Stands," which had earlier published her testimony about alleged violence.
According to the project. There is no confirmed information about the opening of a separate criminal case regarding the possible involvement of third parties in her death.
Therefore, the project "She Stands" insists that the death of the servicewoman should not lead to the termination of the inspection of her previous reports of harassment, threats, and physical violence.
Activists call for clarifying all circumstances of the events, and if violations are confirmed, bringing the perpetrators to responsibility.
The announced confirmed cause of Valeria Stepanova's death is a Russian drone attack while performing a combat task. There is no evidence of a connection between her death and previous statements about violence in the released materials.
