Russia attacked a large enterprise in Ternopil region three times: Chortkiv risks losing its main taxpayer
In Chortkiv, Ternopil region, as a result of repeated Russian attacks, a large manufacturing enterprise with foreign investments was almost completely destroyed. It had been operating in the community for over ten years, was one of the main employers and provided significant revenues to the local budget.
This was reported on October 16 by Chortkiv Mayor Volodymyr Shmatko. Information about three hits on the production facility was also confirmed by the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration Taras Pastukh.
According to Shmatko, Russian troops attacked the enterprise over two days. After the first strike on October 15, on the night of October 16, two more drones hit it.
"As of today, at this hour, the enterprise is almost completely destroyed", - stated the mayor.
He emphasized that the enterprise was of particular importance for the economy of Chortkiv, as it provided jobs for local residents and was one of the largest taxpayers in the community.
"This is a tragedy for our people who worked there, a tragedy for our budget", - noted Shmatko.
The extensive destruction creates risks for employment and budget revenues of the community. At the same time, the city authorities have not yet named the number of employees who may lose their jobs, the amount of potential losses to the local budget, and the preliminary value of the destroyed property.
The enterprise was attacked three times
The head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, Taras Pastukh, specified that during the attacks on October 15 and 16, Russian drones hit a production facility in Chortkiv three times.
According to him, the workshop premises were damaged. Several fire outbreaks occurred on the territory of the enterprise, which were extinguished by rescuers.
Currently, the enterprise's specialists and involved experts are assessing the scale of destruction and the damage caused.
Thus, the mayor assesses the state of the enterprise as almost complete destruction, while the regional administration reports damage to production premises and ongoing assessment of the consequences.
During the repeated strikes on the night of October 16, no one was injured. According to Shmatko, people were evacuated before new hits.
However, as a result of the previous attack on October 15, five people were injured. According to the Regional Military Administration, four of them have already been discharged from the hospital, and one patient continues inpatient treatment. His condition is assessed as satisfactory.
The mayor thanked the enterprise's employees, rescuers, law enforcement officers and other services that dealt with the consequences of the shelling.
Consequences of attacks in Ternopil region
According to the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, over three days - from October 13 to the morning of October 16 - Russian troops used 41 drones within the region. Some of them flew in transit to other regions.
Air defense forces destroyed or stopped nine aerial targets. In total, four hits were recorded in the region.
In addition to Chortkiv, Russian troops attacked a transport enterprise in Ternopil, where the administrative building was damaged.
Pastukh warned that the threat of repeated strikes remains, and called on residents not to distribute photos and videos that could reveal the locations of the strikes.
The name of the affected enterprise has not yet been officially disclosed by local authorities. The final scale of economic losses, prospects for restoring production, and consequences for employees are still being established.
