Power outages October 17: Ukrenergo warned of restrictions
On Saturday, October 17, power supply restrictions will continue in Ukraine due to the aftermath of massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Capacity limitation schedules for industry and business are planned in all regions of the country, and hourly power outages for the population will be applied in some regions.
The National Energy Company Ukrenergo announced this on the evening of October 16.
From 06:00 to 23:59, hourly power outage schedules ranging from one to two and a half queues will be in effect in certain regions.

This means that at different times of the day, restrictions may simultaneously affect different numbers of consumer groups. The specific duration of outages will depend on the situation in the power system and the schedules of local electricity distribution operators.
For industrial enterprises and businesses, capacity limitation schedules are planned throughout Ukraine. They provide for a reduction in allowable electricity consumption necessary to maintain stable operation of the power system.
Reason for outages — consequences of Russian attacks
Ukrenergo explained that the restrictions are necessary due to damage to energy infrastructure caused by Russian missile and drone strikes.
On October 16, the Russian army repeatedly attacked Ukraine's energy facilities. The shelling resulted in large-scale power supply disruptions in a number of regions.
In particular, after attacks on main power grids, mass outages were recorded in Rivne and adjacent areas. A difficult situation also persisted in Volyn, where power engineers continued to deal with the aftermath of strikes on infrastructure.
On the evening of October 16, emergency power outages were introduced in several regions. Under such conditions, previously published hourly outage schedules were temporarily not in effect.
Ukrenergo warned that the situation in the power system remains unstable, so the restrictions planned for October 17 may change.
Where to find out outage times
The company emphasized that specific hours without electricity should be checked on the official websites and pages of local distribution system operators — oblenergos.
At the same time, the introduction of capacity restrictions for industry in all regions does not mean that hourly outages for the population will be applied simultaneously throughout the country.
Power engineers also urged citizens to consume electricity sparingly during periods when power supply is restored according to schedule.
In particular, it is recommended not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time, as this increases the load on the damaged power system.
Emergency restoration work at the affected facilities continues. The timing of full restoration of stable power supply has not yet been announced.
