On the evening of October 16, Russian troops struck the energy infrastructure of Ternopil Oblast. In Kremenets district, a hit was recorded on an energy facility, after which power supply disruptions occurred in the city and nearby settlements.

This was reported by the head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, Taras Pastukh.

“Attacks on Ternopil region continue. This time Kremenets district is targeted. Explosions were heard in the city. There is a hit on an energy infrastructure facility. Relevant services are working on the spot,” — the head of the Regional Military Administration wrote.

According to preliminary information, no casualties have been reported. The extent of damage to energy equipment and other consequences of the strike are being established.

Power disruptions occurred in Kremenets

According to local media, on Friday evening residents of Kremenets heard several explosions. Prior to this, an air raid alert was declared in the region due to the threat of Russian drones.

After the attack, residents of certain districts of the city and nearby settlements reported a lack of electricity. Reports also came in about internet connection disruptions.

At the same time, there is no official data yet on the number of disconnected consumers. Energy companies also have not announced the time frame for full restoration of power supply.

The mayor of Kremenets, Andriy Smahlyuk, appealed to residents to refrain from publishing photos and videos of the aftermath of the attack, and not to disseminate information about the locations of strikes on social networks.

Relevant services are working at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the nature of the damage.

Ternopil Oblast was subjected to repeated strikes

This is not the first Russian attack on Ternopil Oblast in the past 24 hours.

On the night of October 16, Russian drones attacked Chortkiv twice. As a result of the strikes, a production enterprise was damaged, where a fire broke out.

According to the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, the fire area was about 15 square meters. Rescuers extinguished the fire. No casualties were reported as a result of this night attack.

The evening strike on the energy facility in Kremenets district became a separate episode of Russian attacks on the region.

Damage to energy infrastructure occurs against the backdrop of a difficult situation in Ukraine's power system. During October 16, Russian troops attacked energy facilities in several oblasts, leading to emergency power outages.

Earlier, Ukrenergo warned that on October 17, hourly outage schedules for households will continue to apply in some regions, and capacity restrictions for industry will be applied throughout Ukraine.

Information about the consequences of the evening attack on Kremenets district is being clarified. Residents are advised to follow official messages from the regional administration and local electricity network operators.
