"Ukrenergo" warned of prolonged outages on October 20
On Tuesday, October 20, hourly power outage schedules will continue to be in effect in some regions of Ukraine. Restrictions will affect household consumers, as well as industrial enterprises and businesses. The reason remains the consequences of massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure.
This was reported by the national energy company "Ukrenergo" on October 19.
According to the forecast of power engineers, electricity supply restrictions will be in effect from 06:00 to 23:59. For this period, two types of schedules are provided:
- From 06:00 to 23:59 — capacity limitation schedules for industrial consumers in all regions of Ukraine.
- From 06:00 to 23:59 — hourly power outage schedules for all categories of consumers in some oblasts. The volume of restrictions will be from one to two queues.
The company clarified that the need for restrictions is related to damage to energy equipment after Russian missile and drone attacks. This complicates the transmission of electricity to consumers and requires additional regulation of the load on the power system.
Where electricity will be cut off
A complete list of oblasts in which hourly outages will be in effect on October 20 was not published by "Ukrenergo" in the evening message.
The exact time of power outage depends on the region, the queue, and the condition of local power grids. The indicated period from 06:00 to 23:59 does not mean that every consumer will be without electricity throughout the day.
Current schedules must be checked on the official websites and pages of regional electricity distribution system operators — oblenergo.
"Ukrenergo" warned that the time and volume of restrictions may change depending on the situation in the power system, including in case of new Russian shelling.
Power engineers urged to save electricity
On Monday, October 19, Russian troops again attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure. As a result, substations and other important energy facilities were damaged, and power supply disruptions occurred in a number of regions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that as a result of the latest attacks, 28 energy infrastructure facilities were hit, including substations. Emergency restoration work continues in the affected regions.
Additional load on the power system is created by increased electricity consumption due to colder weather and cloudy skies, which reduces the efficiency of household solar power plants.
Power engineers urged citizens to use electricity sparingly during periods when it is available according to the schedule. In particular, it is recommended to avoid turning on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.
Reducing the load on damaged equipment is necessary to maintain stable operation of the power system and prevent additional emergency outages.
