Red line metro traffic restored in Kyiv after shelling, but with a restriction
In Kyiv on the morning of October 20, train traffic was resumed along the entire length of the red metro line between the stations "Akademgorodok" and "Lesnaya". At the same time, one of the stations remains closed to passengers due to damage as a result of the Russian shelling.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
According to city authorities, the terminal station "Lesnaya" has resumed normal operation. Trains are again running between the right and left banks of the capital without the need to transfer to ground transport.
At the same time, the station "Chernigovskaya" is temporarily closed for passenger service. Trains pass it without stopping. The KCSA will announce additionally about the resumption of the station's operation.
Recall that as a result of the massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on October 19, the infrastructure of the red metro line was damaged. In particular, at the station "Chernigovskaya", stained-glass windows, the platform and the facade of the building were damaged.
In addition, the attack damaged railway tracks, the contact rail, power supply systems and train traffic control. Because of this, metro traffic was temporarily limited to the section between the stations "Akademgorodok" and "Darnitsa", and the stations "Chernigovskaya" and "Lesnaya" were closed for passengers.
To eliminate the consequences of the shelling, more than 70 specialists from various services of the Kyiv Metro worked at the damaged section.
As of the morning of October 20, train traffic to "Lesnaya" has been restored, but the repair of the damaged station "Chernigovskaya" is not yet completed. The timing of its opening for passengers has not yet been announced.
