After Russian shelling, new power outages occurred in 12 regions - "Ukrenergo"
As a result of Russian shelling as of the morning of October 20, new power outages were recorded in 12 regions of Ukraine. Due to damage to energy infrastructure, restrictions on electricity consumption for industry continue to apply in the country, and in some regions hourly outages for the population and other consumers are being applied.
This was reported by NEC "Ukrenergo" in its morning update on the state of the power system.
New outages as a result of Russian attacks were recorded in Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
In regions where the security situation allows, energy workers have already begun emergency restoration work. Specialists are trying to restore electricity to all disconnected consumers as soon as possible.
At the same time, due to damage to energy equipment during previous Russian attacks, forced restrictions on electricity consumption continue to be applied in Ukraine.
Until the end of the day on October 20, capacity limitation schedules for industry will be in effect in all regions. In some regions, hourly outage schedules up to two stages for all categories of consumers are also being applied.
"Ukrenergo" explained that such measures are necessary to prevent overloading of equipment that suffered damage as a result of Russian strikes.
Separately, outages due to adverse weather conditions were recorded. Heavy rains and gusts of wind damaged overhead power lines, resulting in nine settlements in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions being left fully or partially without electricity. Repair crews of oblenergo are already working to restore power supply.
Despite the consequences of the attacks, total electricity consumption in Ukraine has slightly decreased. As of 09:30 on October 20, its level was 2.6% lower than at the same time the previous day.
"Ukrenergo" attributes this to sunny weather in some regions, which led to increased electricity generation by household solar power plants and reduced consumption from the general grid.
At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to use electricity sparingly and limit the use of powerful electrical appliances from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Energy workers emphasize that due to Russian attacks, the situation in the power system may change. Current schedules of hourly outages for a specific address should be checked on the official resources of local electricity distribution system operators.
