Previously convicted for bribe military of TCC suspected of beating mobilized to death
In Lviv, a serviceman of one of the units of the territorial center of recruitment and social support was notified of suspicion of fatally beating a mobilized man. Earlier, this serviceman had already been convicted of receiving a bribe, but the punishment did not include imprisonment.
The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on October 20.
According to the investigation, in September 2026, the serviceman together with other TCC employees beat a mobilized man. The victim was lying on the floor with his hands tied behind his back and could not defend himself.
TCC employees struck the man with fists and feet on the torso and chest. According to the investigation, the suspect personally inflicted at least two kicks on the victim.
After the beating, the mobilized man was forcibly moved to a utility room of the TCC. Later, an ambulance crew took him from there.
In the hospital, doctors found numerous rib fractures, severe lung injuries and other life-threatening injuries. Despite the medical care provided, the man died.
Investigators found out that the suspected serviceman had already been prosecuted. In August 2026, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv found him guilty of receiving a bribe by prior conspiracy with other persons.
Then the court imposed a punishment not related to deprivation of liberty. The following month, he became a suspect in a new criminal proceeding.
Currently, the serviceman was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim, committed by a group of persons.
If proven guilty, he faces up to 10 years of imprisonment. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail.
The SBI continues the investigation. Law enforcement officers are identifying other TCC employees who may have participated in the beating and are establishing all the circumstances of the death of the mobilized man.
Procedural guidance is provided by the Lviv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region.
