A Russian attack damaged another data center in Kyiv, customers were warned of disruptions
A Russian attack on October 20 damaged the GigaCenter data center in Kyiv, which provides server hosting and IT equipment services for businesses. The company warned clients of possible equipment disruptions and began mitigating the consequences of the strike.
GigaCenter announced this on its Facebook page. The information was also published by the specialized outlet dev.ua.
Due to infrastructure damage, data center clients may experience disruptions in the operation of equipment hosted there. This includes servers and other technical assets used by companies to ensure the operation of their digital services.
GigaCenter stated that specialists are working to contain the consequences of the impact.
At the same time, the company has not yet disclosed the extent of the damage, the number of clients possibly affected, or estimated timelines for full restoration. There is no information about loss of client data or permanent shutdown of the data center.
GigaCenter is part of the GIGAGROUP, which also includes telecom operator GigaTrans, cloud provider GigaCloud, and cybersecurity company GigaSafe.
The data center provides server hosting services for businesses. According to the company, its infrastructure is built to Tier III reliability standards. The data center covers approximately 1,200 square meters.
Russian attacks continue to disable Ukrainian digital infrastructure. The damage to GigaCenter is another case in a series of strikes on data centers in Kyiv that have caused equipment disruptions and the loss of individual facilities in recent weeks.
In particular, on October 19, the complete destruction of the "Datagroup" data center was reported following a Russian ballistic attack. The company stated that the damaged equipment and infrastructure cannot be restored, but customer service continued from backup sites.
Earlier, at the beginning of October, the "Parkovy" data center ceased operations completely after sustaining critical damage from Russian strikes. Other Ukrainian operators, including DC|Cosmonova and dline.ua, also reported destruction or shutdown of their facilities.
The series of data center damages creates additional risks for Ukrainian businesses. Such facilities support the operation of corporate IT systems, websites, servers, data transmission channels, and other digital services.
Even temporary disruption of server infrastructure can affect the availability of online services and internal systems of enterprises. To reduce such risks, companies use backup sites and geographically distributed infrastructure.
However, GigaCenter has currently reported damage and possible disruptions, not total destruction or impossibility of recovery, unlike some other operators.
