On the morning of October 21, Russian troops again attacked gas production infrastructure of Naftogaz Group in Kharkiv region. An enemy drone hit one of the units at the production site. Due to the security situation, company specialists cannot yet assess the consequences of the strike.

This was reported by acting chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhii Fedorenko.

According to him, the Russian drone directly hit a technological unit at one of the company's gas production facilities. It is currently impossible to assess the extent of possible damage due to the threat of repeated attacks.

Naftogaz has not yet reported whether the facility had to be shut down and how much the strike could affect natural gas production volumes. There is also no information about casualties in the report.

Since the beginning of 2026, Russia has attacked Naftogaz Group facilities over 400 times. According to Fedorenko, this is twice as many as in the entire previous year.

The company's head emphasized that Russian troops continue to systematically strike Ukrainian oil and gas infrastructure.

This is the second attack on Naftogaz gas production facilities in Kharkiv region in the last ten days. On the night of October 12, a Russian jet drone struck one of the company's production sites in the region.

That attack caused a fire and damaged critical equipment. Employees were in shelter, so there were no casualties.

Another strike on gas production infrastructure occurred on October 15 in Poltava region. Then a Russian drone damaged technological equipment, caused a fire and forced the company to suspend operations at the production facility.

In addition, on September 22, Russia launched at least five ballistic missile strikes on a facility of the oil and gas complex in Poltava region. After previous attacks, its equipment had not been working for a long time, and new destruction effectively made restoration of the facility impossible.

Regular strikes on gas production infrastructure create additional risks for ensuring Ukraine's natural gas supply during the heating season. Damage to technological units can lead to forced production shutdowns and the need to restore equipment.

At the same time, it is premature to assess the impact of today's attack on overall gas production. The company has not yet established the extent of damage and has not reported possible production losses.
