"Ukrzaliznytsia" has installed 33 mobile shelters at railway facilities in Kyiv and Kyiv region. The company plans to significantly expand the network of protective structures due to the intensification of Russian attacks on transport infrastructure.

This was reported by the press service of "Ukrzaliznytsia" on October 21.

Currently, 33 primary mobile shelters have been set up in the capital and the region. In the company's future plans is to install another 128 such structures in Kyiv and Kyiv region, as well as almost 650 shelters in other regions of Ukraine.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, "Ukrzaliznytsia" has already installed 434 primary mobile shelters at its facilities across the country.

Protective structures are placed primarily near critical facilities on which train movement depends. Priority is also given to stations where there are no other available protective structures of the railway company.

The need to expand the network of shelters in "Ukrzaliznytsia" is explained by the change in the tactics of Russian attacks. Recently, the Russian forces have increasingly carried out prolonged combined strikes using missiles and drones, in particular on transport and logistics infrastructure.

According to company representatives, modular shelters have already repeatedly helped protect railway workers during attacks by strike drones. Their placement directly near work facilities allows employees to move more quickly to a safe place after an air alert is announced.

The installation of shelters is part of the Resilience Plan of "Ukrzaliznytsia". Its goal is to strengthen the safety of personnel and ensure the stability of railway transportation even during prolonged Russian attacks.

Protection of employees at critical railway hubs is of particular importance for freight transportation, including delivery of products of Ukrainian enterprises and ensuring international logistics.

Previously, "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported that due to Russian shelling of railway infrastructure, trains may temporarily change routes or be delayed. In particular, on October 14, Russian troops attacked railway facilities in five regions, causing infrastructure damage and disruptions in traffic.

The company emphasizes that further installation of mobile shelters should reduce risks for personnel who ensure the operation of the railway in conditions of constant air threat.
