The National Bank of Ukraine has denied information about the alleged resignation of the head of the regulator, Andrii Pyshnyi. Earlier, one of the Ukrainian outlets reported that the official wrote a letter of resignation after searches by NABU and SAP.

The possible resignation was reported by Delo.ua with reference to an interlocutor on the banking market. At the same time, Forbes Ukraine received a refutation of this information from representatives of the NBU.

According to Dilo, Pyshnyi allegedly already wrote a letter of resignation of his own accord. The source connects this decision with the searches that anti-corruption bodies conducted on October 21.

The publication's interlocutor also claims that the question of the resignation of the head of the National Bank was discussed earlier. However, the publication does not provide independent confirmation of this information.

In the publication itself, Delo.ua notes that Andrii Pyshnyi has not officially announced the submission of a resignation letter.

At the same time, Forbes Ukraine sources directly in the National Bank denied the existence of such a letter.

According to the interlocutors, as of 15:00 Wednesday, October 21, Pyshnyi had not submitted a letter of resignation.

The NBU also told Forbes Ukraine that they officially refute the circulated information about the dismissal of the head of the regulator. The National Bank representatives promised to publish an additional statement regarding the circumstances of the case soon.

Thus, the report of Pyshnyi's resignation is currently unconfirmed. The information of Dilo and Forbes Ukraine contradict each other, and there is no official decision to dismiss the head of the National Bank.

What is known about the searches at the National Bank

On the morning of October 21, it became known about investigative actions of NABU and SAP at the National Bank of Ukraine.

Popular deputies Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Oleksii Honcharenko were the first to report about searches directly at the head of the regulator. Similar information was spread by some Ukrainian media.

At the same time, NABU officially confirmed only the conduct of searches at the National Bank premises and at the residence of one of its employees. The bureau did not name this employee.

According to the anti-corruption agency, no one was detained during the investigative actions and no notices of suspicion were served.

Andrii Pyshnyi has headed the National Bank of Ukraine since October 7, 2022. Before his appointment, he headed the state-owned Oschadbank.

There is currently no confirmed information about a change in the management of the NBU. Further developments will depend on official statements from the regulator and procedures stipulated by law.
