The US is proposing to hold a new trilateral meeting between American, Ukrainian, and Russian negotiators on ending the war as soon as possible. Possible talks between the leaders of the countries are also being discussed. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, answering journalists' questions, according to РБК-Україна .

According to the president, the meeting of US special envoy Steve Witkoff with the Russian side on October 21 was important.

"We received feedback that Russia supports a trilateral meeting at the level of our teams. The American side proposes to do it as soon as possible. We support this," - says Zelensky.

The president has not yet announced the final date of this meeting.

"We talked with our American partners. They will make it as early as possible, in November. I think, no later than the beginning of November. Well, let's see, not everything depends on us," - he noted.

Therefore, the president says, the teams of the three countries will communicate in these directions.

"The agenda is clear: to end the war, to bring peace closer, and to prepare everything for a meeting at the leaders' level. And this is very important for everyone. At least for us, for Ukraine, it is very important. We always emphasize this," - he noted.

Ukraine's position

Zelensky outlined the directions at the negotiations that Ukraine will support.

"We will support proposals on ceasefire, on ending the war, on the energy sphere (on ceasefire - ed.), on any ceasefire in any case, and on humanitarian initiatives, on the return of prisoners, and on diplomacy," - the president specified.

Positive signal

In his opinion, the main initiative in all these negotiations and the main signal so far is positive.

"On our side, there is full support for the American proposals. We hope that Russia, and it has already said many times that it is ready for a meeting in one format or another. Then something changed, was canceled, let's see how it goes this time," - he says.

Zelensky believes that the main concept is to meet as early as possible, start working, and develop "the peace that we need".

Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump allegedly seeks to sign a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia at the G20 summit in December. This was reported by The Atlantic, citing sources.

In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with US President's envoy Steve Witkoff stated his readiness for a new round of negotiations with Washington and Kyiv.
