In Vinnytsia, law enforcement officers detained two military servicemen suspected of murdering two women. According to investigators, the crime occurred on the evening of October 20 in an apartment in the city center. One of the detainees had left his military unit without permission.
The Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast reported this on October 21 reported.
According to law enforcement officers, the bodies of two women were found in an apartment of a residential building on Oleksii Berest Street. The victims were identified as the 46-year-old owner of the apartment and her 47-year-old acquaintance. Signs of violent death were found on the bodies.
The investigation established that shortly before the murder, the women were in the company of two servicemen aged 30 and 38. One of the men had left his military unit without permission. According to preliminary information, the participants of the gathering had been drinking alcohol together.
According to the police version, during the interaction, a conflict suddenly arose among those present, as a result of which the women received fatal injuries. After the incident, the men left the apartment.
Law enforcement officers needed less than an hour to identify the alleged perpetrators and detain them. Officers of the Vinnytsia District Police Department together with criminal investigation operatives located the men in different districts of the city.
The actions of the detainees have been qualified under paragraphs 1 and 12 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – premeditated murder of two persons committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy.
If proven guilty in court, the suspects face lengthy imprisonment up to life imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast under the procedural supervision of the Vinnytsia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Southern Region.
The police reported that investigative actions are ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including the causes of the conflict and the role of each detainee.
At the time of the police report, there was no official information on the selection of pretrial restrictions for the men. Their guilt can only be established by a court conviction.
