On October 22, vehicle traffic on the South Bridge in Kyiv was resumed in the direction from the left to the right bank of the Dnieper. The passage was opened after a temporary closure of the crossing related to the consequences of a Russian attack on the capital.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA).
Traffic has been restored only in one direction — from the left bank to the right. Restrictions on passage in the opposite direction are still in effect.
However, if a red level air alert is announced in the capital, the South Bridge will be completely closed to traffic in both directions again. Drivers are urged to take possible restrictions into account when planning routes.
As a reminder, on the morning of October 22, traffic on the South Bridge was completely stopped after a massive Russian missile strike on Kyiv. The attack damaged part of the metro infrastructure located on the bridge crossing.
Due to the damage, the operation of the Syretsko-Pecherska metro line was temporarily changed. Trains run on two separate sections: from the "Syrets" station to "Vydubychi" and from "Osokorky" to "Chervony Khutir". Through train traffic across the Dnieper was not restored at the time of the report.
