A new round of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia on ending the war may take place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Moscow is considering this city as a possible venue for the meeting, but the final date has not yet been announced.
This was announced on October 22 by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, reports the Russian agency Prime.
"So far, it is about Abu Dhabi," — said the Kremlin representative, answering journalists' question about the venue for the talks.
At the same time, Peskov refused to specify whether the Russian delegation is preparing specific documents or proposals for the next round of talks. He said journalists were prematurely interested in the details of the upcoming meeting.
Earlier, on October 21, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Moscow expects to resume trilateral talks in mid-November. According to him, such an option was discussed during Vladimir Putin's meeting with US President's special representative Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg.
Ushakov said the parties are tentatively focusing on Abu Dhabi and holding negotiations at a technical level. One of the main topics is to be the security system of Ukraine and Russia after the end of the war.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 21 confirmed Kyiv's readiness to participate in a trilateral meeting. According to him, the American side proposed organizing negotiations as soon as possible, and Ukraine supported this initiative.
Zelensky expressed hope that the meeting would take place no later than early November. At the same time, he stressed that the final dates are not yet agreed, and the negotiating teams are to determine the agenda.
The Ukrainian side intends to discuss a ceasefire, the possibility of an energy truce, and humanitarian issues, including a prisoner-of-war exchange. The president also considers it necessary to prepare conditions for a future meeting at the level of state leaders.
For his part, Witkoff confirmed the continuation of the negotiation process in a trilateral format at a technical level after consultations in Oslo and St. Petersburg.
Thus, Ukraine, the United States, and Russia have publicly allowed for the resumption of talks, but the exact timing and venue have not been finally confirmed. At the same time, Kyiv hopes for a meeting in early November, while the Russian side is aiming for mid-month.
Recall that in January and February 2026, representatives of the three states already held talks with American mediation. The first two rounds took place in Abu Dhabi, the third in Geneva on February 17–18. No significant progress was made in reaching an agreement to end the war.
