Russian troops on the evening of October 22 and in the night of October 23 launched a series of drone strikes on Ukraine. Railway and energy infrastructure, as well as civilian objects in several regions, came under attack. In Zhytomyr region, over 900 settlements were left without electricity.
In Poltava, Russian drones attacked a railway infrastructure facility. According to the State Emergency Service, a fire broke out as a result of the strike. Rescuers and special equipment of the Poltava garrison were involved in its liquidation.

The scale of damage to the railway facility has not yet been specified. There is also no confirmed information about the impact of the attack on the movement of freight and passenger trains.
In addition, in the Poltava community, the fall of a Russian drone on open territory was recorded. According to the regional military administration, the blast wave damaged nearby structures and a power line.
In Zhytomyr region, Russian strikes were again directed against energy infrastructure. As reported by the head of the regional military administration Vitaliy Bunechko, as of 07:00 on October 23, more than 900 settlements of the region remained without electricity.
Critical infrastructure facilities in the region are operating using backup power sources. Energy workers are carrying out restoration work around the clock, but repairs are complicated by the constant threat of repeated Russian attacks.
The exact number of de-energized enterprises and consumers, as well as the time frame for full restoration of electricity supply, has not yet been announced by the regional authorities.
In Sumy, Russian troops massively attacked civilian infrastructure. According to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov, enemy drones struck objects in three different parts of the city.
Some drones reached their targets. Rescuers and utility services worked at the impact sites. According to the State Emergency Service, all detected fires have been extinguished. The specific list of damaged civilian objects and the extent of destruction have not been disclosed yet.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops attacked four districts of the region with drones almost 20 times during the night. As reported by the head of the regional military administration Oleksandr Hanzha, infrastructure was damaged in Dnipro, and an administrative building in Pavlohrad.
Settlements of Nikopol and Synelnykove districts were also under attack. Additional information about damage to industrial enterprises, production facilities, or warehouse complexes was not provided by the regional authorities in the morning report.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced strikes on railway and port facilities in Ukraine. In particular, the ministry claims that a wagon depot in Poltava was hit, the territory of which was allegedly used for storing and repairing military equipment.
The Russian side also claims to have hit port infrastructure in Vylkove, Odesa region, which, according to its version, was used to support unmanned naval vessels. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claims that a dry cargo ship was attacked at sea, which allegedly was carrying cargo to Odesa for the Ukrainian military.
These assertions by the Russian military department have no independent confirmation. The Ukrainian side confirmed the attack on the railway infrastructure of Poltava but did not confirm the military use of the depot claimed by Russia. Information about the nature of the damage in the port of Vylkove, the strike on the dry cargo ship, and the destination of its cargo also needs verification.
The consequences of the Russian strikes on transport, energy, and other civilian infrastructure continue to be clarified. Emergency services are working to eliminate the damage and restore the operation of the affected facilities.
