Restrictions on the operation of the military version of Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine remain in effect, despite the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump about their cancellation. The Ukrainian side has not recorded any changes in the established limits.
This was reported on October 23 by Dmitry Lytvyn, adviser to the President of Ukraine on communications, on social network X, commenting on reports about the restoration of full operation of the satellite system.
"We see the same limit. That is, at this moment nothing has changed", Lytvyn wrote.
Information about the persistence of restrictions is also confirmed by Associated Press, citing a senior European official familiar with the situation in Ukraine.
According to the agency's source, nothing has changed in the operation of the military Starshield system: the speed limit of approximately 160 km/h for terminals continues to apply. This complicates the use of Ukrainian drones, which require stable satellite communications during high-speed movement.
Thus, the new reports contradict the statement by Donald Trump, who on October 22 claimed that Elon Musk had already restored full operation of the satellite system for the Ukrainian military.
As previously reported by "Kurs Ukraine", the American president refused to specify whether he personally called the owner of SpaceX with a request to lift the restrictions.
"I don't want to comment on that – whether I called or someone else. It doesn't matter at all. I think the main thing is that he changed everything back", Trump said.
Earlier, The Economist journalist Oliver Carroll reported about a possible cancellation of restrictions after changes in satellite communications noticed by Ukrainian drone operators. However, there was no final confirmation of the restoration of full functionality of the system at that time.
The new statement from a representative of the Presidential Office indicates that the issue of full lifting of restrictions remains unresolved. At the same time, there is currently no information about the timing of their possible removal.
