American company OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, lowered its target valuation by $150 billion during the final stage of negotiations with potential investors. The company plans to raise about $30 billion in new capital.

This was reported by Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

According to the agency, OpenAI is now offering investors a company valuation of $1.25 trillion instead of the previously discussed $1.4 trillion. This is about 11% lower than the previous benchmark.

As noted by Financial Times, the valuation revision came after some potential investors expressed doubts about the previously proposed worth of the company. The negotiations are taking place against a backdrop of falling shares of American technology companies and concerns about the return on massive investments in artificial intelligence.

Among the potential participants in the funding is investment firm Coatue Management, which is negotiating a role as one of the lead investors. OpenAI has also discussed participation from funds from the United Arab Emirates and US-based BlackRock.

According to Bloomberg sources, the company expects to finalize investor commitments by the end of next week. However, negotiations are still ongoing, so the funding amount and final valuation may change. OpenAI declined to comment on the agency's information.

Despite the lowered expected valuation, it remains significantly higher than the level of the previous funding round. In March 2026, OpenAI raised $122 billion, and its valuation as a result of the deal was estimated at $852 billion.

The new funding is intended to provide the company with additional capital before its planned stock market debut. OpenAI previously postponed its initial public offering until at least 2027, explaining the decision by the need to focus on safety and development of advanced artificial intelligence systems.

Earlier, "Course of Ukraine" reported on the start of negotiations for OpenAI's new investment round. At that time, the preliminary valuation of the company was about $1.2 trillion.
