On Friday, October 23, emergency and blackout power outages were introduced in Kyiv and a number of regions of Ukraine due to the difficult situation in the power system after Russian attacks. The restrictions affected the capital, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.
This was reported by the energy company DTEK and regional electricity distribution system operators.
In Kyiv and Kyiv region, emergency outages were applied at the command of NPC "Ukrenergo". DTEK warned that during such restrictions, previously published hourly outage schedules do not apply.
Energy workers have not yet reported when the capital and the region will be able to return to forecast schedules. The company promises to inform about changes in the power supply regime additionally.
In Zhytomyr region, they also switched to emergency blackouts. As reported by "Zhytomyroblenergo", the relevant decision was made due to the difficult situation in the united energy system of Ukraine, caused by the consequences of Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure. Regular hourly outage schedules in the region are currently not in effect.
In Cherkasy region, emergency outages were introduced from 10:32 on October 23. According to "Cherkasyoblenergo", restrictions were applied at the command of "Ukrenergo" due to the consequences of previous massive missile and drone attacks.
At the same time, hourly outage schedules continue to operate in the region. For consumers affected by emergency restrictions, the actual time of power absence may not correspond to the preliminary schedule.
In Chernihiv region, by order of "Ukrenergo", ten stages of emergency outage schedules were applied. "Chernihivoblenergo" clarified that this regime will be in effect until a separate order from the dispatchers of the national energy company.
Emergency outages differ from scheduled ones in that they are used to promptly reduce the load on the power system. Therefore, the predetermined time for power restoration may change.
We remind you that as a result of Russian night attacks on October 23 in Volyn, almost 105 thousand subscribers were left without electricity, and in Zhytomyr region as of 07:00, more than 900 settlements were de-energized. In a number of regions, energy facilities were damaged, which is why emergency restoration work is ongoing.
Energy workers urge consumers to use electricity sparingly and to check operational messages from their regional energy companies. The timing of lifting emergency restrictions will depend on the stabilization of the energy system.
