In Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers are investigating a scheme to poison Ukrainian military personnel, which, according to the investigation, was organized by Russian special services. As a result of the poisoning, two military personnel died, and four more murders in various regions of Ukraine were prevented. A 17-year-old girl is involved in the case, who, according to the police, carried out the tasks of an FSB representative.

New details of the investigation were released on October 23 by the National Police of Ukraine, citing the acting head of the department, Maksym Tsutskiridze.

According to the investigation, Russian special services used postal shipments to poison Ukrainian military personnel. The organizers established contact with potential victims through Telegram and offered them free narcotic substances.

As law enforcement officers claim, a 17-year-old girl from Zhytomyr region was involved in carrying out the tasks. Following the instructions of a Russian curator, she prepared shipments with narcotic substances and sent them by mail, using fictitious sender data. For such activities, she was promised at least 5 thousand hryvnias.

After receiving the packages, military personnel were offered to consume their contents during a video call. According to police information, the recipients did not know that the capsules contained a deadly amount of methadone.

In Zhytomyr region, two military personnel died from poisoning. During the investigation of their deaths, police identified other recipients of dangerous packages and were able to prevent four more murders.

Potential victims were in Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Chernivtsi, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. According to Tsutskiridze, the military personnel who were saved continued their service. At the same time, the two deceased had previously left their military units without permission.

The minor was notified of suspicion of complicity in the premeditated murder of two people by prior agreement, as well as in sending narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale. According to the National Police, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

Law enforcement officers are also checking the suspect's possible involvement in other crimes. The court must provide a final assessment of the evidence and the question of her guilt.

It should be noted that back on June 5, the police of Zhytomyr region reported the detention of a 17-year-old resident of Berdychiv, suspected of poisoning a serviceman on the instructions of an alleged representative of Russian special services. At that time, it was about the death of a 27-year-old military man in a rented apartment in Zhytomyr. In the new report, the National Police did not specify whether it was the same suspect.

The National Police called on military personnel and their relatives to be cautious about offers from unfamiliar people, in particular regarding receiving gifts, drugs, food, or drinks. If a person is being persuaded to use unknown substances, threatened, or pressured, law enforcement officers advise saving the correspondence and contacting the police at 102.
