On Friday, October 23, several regions of Russia suffered massive attacks by drones and other aerial targets. In Perm Krai, a fire was reported at the chemical enterprise "Azot", in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, explosions occurred near the data processing center of the Federal Tax Service, and in Voronezh, a fire was recorded in the area of the "Baltimor" military airfield.
This was reported by the publication Astra, which analyzed eyewitness videos. Part of the consequences of the attacks were confirmed by local Russian authorities, but the exact scale of damage to industrial and military infrastructure remains unknown.
Chemical plant "Azot" caught fire in Perm Krai
In the city of Berezniki, Perm Krai, on the morning of October 23, amid a drone attack, a fire broke out in the area of the "Azot" chemical plant, owned by Uralkhim. According to Astra's OSINT analysis, eyewitness videos show smoke rising above the enterprise's territory.
The governor of Perm Krai, Dmitry Makhonin, confirmed the attack on Berezniki and Solikamsk. According to him, Russian air defense allegedly shot down 20 drones. He also acknowledged damage to one industrial facility, but did not name the enterprise.
In addition, according to the governor, windows of two apartments in residential buildings in Berezniki and Solikamsk were damaged as a result of the attack.
"Azot" is a major producer of industrial chemicals and mineral fertilizers. The enterprise produces ammonia, nitric acid, ammonium and potassium nitrate, urea, and other chemical products. About 2500 people work at the plant.
Part of its products have dual-use purposes. In particular, nitric acid is used by enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex for the production of explosives and propellants. Among such enterprises, Astra names the Perm Powder Plant, Solikamsk plant "Ural", Aleksinsky chemical plant, and Biysk oleum plant.
This is not the first attack on the enterprise. Earlier, "Kurs Ukrainy" reported on strikes on "Azot" and another chemical enterprise in Perm Krai on September 11. The plant was also attacked in October 2025.
Currently, there is no confirmed data on production stoppage after the October 23 attack or the scale of damage to technological equipment.
Explosions near Federal Tax Service data center in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast
In the town of Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, during the night attack, explosions and fire were recorded in the area of the data processing center of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
According to Astra's OSINT analysis, eyewitness videos show flashes in the area where the data center is located. The monitoring channel Exilenova+ also published footage of a likely strike.
The data processing center in Gorodets was opened in December 2015. It is part of the infrastructure of Russian state information systems, ensures the processing of tax data and the operation of digital services of the Ministry of Finance and its subordinate agencies.
According to Astra, the system provides for data backup between several data processing centers so that state services can continue to operate even in the event of failure of one of the facilities.
The governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Gleb Nikitin, reported an attack by 19 drones. According to him, three people were injured in Gorodetsky district, several residential buildings, an educational institution, and an infrastructure facility were damaged.
Due to the consequences of the attack, schools of the district switched to distance learning. The local administration also reported temporary restrictions on the movement of cars and public transport.
Russian authorities did not specify whether the data center was the damaged infrastructure facility. There is no independent confirmation of direct damage to its equipment, data loss, or interruption of tax services.
Fire recorded near military airfield in Voronezh
Another attack took place in Voronezh, where a fire broke out near the "Baltimor" military airfield after explosions.
According to Astra, the publication's OSINT analyst determined from eyewitness videos that fire and smoke were visible in the area of the airfield.
The governor of Voronezh Oblast, Alexander Gusev, stated that Russian air defense shot down several jet aerial targets over the city. According to his version, dry grass caught fire in the suburbs due to falling debris. The fire was allegedly extinguished. He also reported damage to outbuildings and several passenger cars, but did not confirm damage to military facilities.
Meanwhile, Exilenova+ reported that, according to preliminary data, the territory of the former Voronezh Military Aviation Engineering University and a nearby parking lot of military aircraft may have been hit. There is no confirmation of damage to aviation equipment.
The "Baltimor" airfield is used by Russian military aviation, including Su-34 bombers, which are used for strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
Thus, after the attacks on October 23, Russian authorities confirmed damage to an industrial facility in Perm Krai and infrastructure in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Astra reported a fire at the "Azot" chemical plant and a fire near the military airfield. The results of possible damage to the data center and military aircraft require further confirmation.
