German Ambassador to Ukraine Boris Ruge does not believe that Ukraine's accession to the EU is impossible while the war continues, according to Європейська правда.
He stated this in an interview to "European Pravda".
Ruge expressed doubts that the EU has ever made a decision about the impossibility of a country at war joining the EU.
"I am not sure whether the EU has expressed a clear position on whether the continuation of the war would be an obstacle to Ukraine joining the European Union as a full member. I do not think so", – said the ambassador.
"Therefore, we have to work so that even in these very difficult circumstances we move towards the European Union. Then we will see", – he added.
Also, Ruge, in the context of Ukraine's EU accession, stressed the need to change many laws and reform institutions, and added that it is a long process.
