After more than two years of suspension, the "Ukrainian Exchange" is preparing to return to trading. The company hopes to resume operations by the end of November 2026: the regulator has registered updated trading rules, and the court dispute over the license has concluded.

This was announced on October 24 by the Chairman of the Board of the exchange Artemiy Yershov, reports Interfax-Ukraine. According to him, the litigation has ended, the license has been returned, and trading is planned to be launched by the end of next month.

What has already been done to resume trading

On October 23, the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC) made decisions on registering the updated rules of the "Ukrainian Exchange".

The matter concerns two trading venues: a regulated stock market and a multilateral trading facility, through which participants can enter into transactions with financial instruments.

Information about the consideration of the relevant issues was published by the regulator on the official website.

In addition, according to Yershov, the National Bank of Ukraine has already registered the specification of a currency swap — an operation for exchanging currencies with a subsequent reverse exchange on pre-agreed terms. The exchange has sent the relevant documents to the securities regulator.

Why the exchange was not operating for more than two years

Trading on the "Ukrainian Exchange" stopped on July 8, 2024, when the NSSMC canceled its license due to sanctions restrictions related to one of the minority shareholders.

This concerned Freedom Holding Corp., whose ultimate beneficial owner is Timur Turlov. Ukraine imposed personal sanctions against him in October 2022.

The exchange challenged the regulator's decision. In September 2024, the appellate court suspended its effect, but trading never resumed.

On July 1, 2026, the exchange won an appeal in the license case. This opened the way to restoring its operations.

When trading will begin and what is still unknown

The return of the "Ukrainian Exchange" will make it possible to restore the operation of one of the platforms of the Ukrainian stock market, which had not conducted trading for more than two years.

However, it has not yet been announced which securities and other financial instruments will be available immediately after the launch and under what conditions trading participants will be able to operate.

The exact date of the first trading session is also unknown. The end of November remains a stated target, not an approved resumption date.
