On the night of October 26, Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia, damaging commercial property, private homes and cars. In the morning, local Telegram channels also reported a drone strike on one of the city's shopping centers, which caused a fire.

The consequences of the night shelling were reported by the acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin.

According to him, the Russian strikes damaged a commercial building, private households and parked cars. A fire broke out at one of the impact sites. The extent of damage to the commercial facility and the amount of losses are not yet specified.

Later, the local Telegram channel "Eyes Everywhere" published photos and video of the fire, reporting an attack on a shopping center in the Oleksandrivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia. Videos of the aftermath of the strike were also shared by other local channels.

According to preliminary assumptions, this is the territory of the City Mall shopping and entertainment complex. However, there is no official confirmation yet that this particular facility was hit during the morning attack. It has also not been established whether the reports of nighttime damage to a commercial building and the morning strike on a shopping center refer to the same object.

City Mall had previously ceased operations following Russian attacks

The City Mall shopping and entertainment complex, located in the Oleksandrivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia, belongs to the development company Arricano Real Estate. Its retail space exceeds 23 thousand square meters.

Back in early September, the complex's management decided to temporarily suspend operations due to the worsening security situation. The immediate trigger was the Russian attack on August 28 on the neighboring "Epitsentr" hypermarket.

On the night of September 7, Russian drones attacked City Mall itself. Multiple fires broke out in the building, and the owner reported that the shopping complex had been virtually destroyed.

Arricano stated its intention to rebuild the damaged facility. No reports have been made about the resumption of its full operation after the September strike.

Russian attacks on shopping centers in Zaporizhzhia have already led to the loss of a significant portion of large retail space. According to local media, five shopping centers came under attack in September alone, including City Mall, several facilities of the "Amstor" chain, and the "Intrade" shopping center.

Four people wounded in nighttime strikes

According to the latest information from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration as of 6:56 AM, four people were injured in the night attack: women aged 22 and 30, and men aged 40 and 61.

According to the emergency services, the strikes also damaged a hotel building, buses, a private residential house, and outbuildings. Emergency services are working at the impact sites.

Assessment of the consequences of the Russian attack is ongoing. There is currently no information on possible additional damage to the City Mall shopping complex and its impact on the rebuilding plans.
