Cash dollar continues to rise following the growth in the interbank currency market. In Kyiv on Monday morning, wholesale exchange offices sold cash dollars for 45.50 UAH, but by now they have already raised the price tags to 45.55-45.60 UAH for a regular (i.e., "white") dollar. New-type dollars (the so-called "blue dollar") cost at least 10-15 kopecks more.
Prices have risen significantly in other major cities as well. In Kropyvnytskyi today dollar is sold for 45.60 UAH, in Mykolaiv, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia – for 45.65 UAH, in Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava – for 45.70 UAH.
Ukrainian banks as of 11:30 sold dollars at prices from 45.45 UAH at the Kyiv branch of Poltava-Bank to 45.95 UAH at the Zaporizhzhia Metabank. Compared to last Friday, the dollar became more expensive by 25 kopecks in both banks.
Regarding the euro, at 11:00 it could be bought cheapest for 50.95 UAH at Bank 3/4. An hour later, the minimum sale price of the euro currency rose to 51.10 UAH at Universalbank and Ukrgasbank. The euro in Ukraine grows synchronously with the dollar, no longer reacting to what is happening in the world on the FOREX market.
Among analysts, there is more and more talk that the National Bank carried out a structural managed devaluation of the hryvnia, shifting the trading range 50-60 kopecks higher, to the area of 45.00-45.50/45.50-45.60 UAH. Whether this is so, time will tell. One thing is obvious: the autumn devaluation has started, and this is not the end yet.
